Scanning, imaging and upscaling

Do you need to scan, photograph or upscale your original works and files? At PIGS, we are experts and known in Norway as a leader in digitising physical works of art in top quality.

Scanning

We provide scanning of drawings, watercolours and paintings on paper and similar materials up to 90 cm in width with a media thickness of up to 2mm.

ImageAccess WideTek 36 is a camera-based scanner (CCD) with an optical resolution of 1200 ppi in color (24bit), grayscale (8bit), bitonal or halftone. This is the perfect solution for creating editions of individual works such as prints, drawings or paintings. 

We also scan negatives and slides. Here we use the Epson Perfection V850 Pro. The scanner has an optical resolution of 6400 ppi and 48bit.

It gives you the opportunity to enlarge your original to large prints. You can choose between raw scan (without editing) or scan2print (with editing). You'll get a perfect file that's ready to print.

  • Start-up fee: NOK 99

  • 6 × SEK 499 = SEK 2,994

  • 10 % discount on the total (- SEK 309)
    = Total NOK 2,784 incl. VAT

If the customer chooses Scan2Print*, the total will be NOK 4,404 incl. VAT.

* Scan2print includes colour correction, sharpening and test prints on paper, possibly with a white border. Simply everything you need to achieve a good print result.

Frequently asked questions

  • Which originals can you digitise? Paintings, drawings, graphics, photographs, plans and text. Originals on paper up to 90cm on the short side are scanned. Stretched canvases, panels or large works on paper are photographed.
  • What resolution and file format do you deliver? Photography 50 or 100 MP. Delivery as 16-bit TIFF + RAW or desired format. Scanning up to 1200 ppi. Delivery as 8-bit TIFF + JPG
  • How do you ensure correct colour? Calibrated light sources, ColorChecker, profile-controlled workflow. White balance/grey point set against reference. Softproof and ICC profiles for further printing if required.
  • What about glare from paint, glass and glossy media? Parallel lighting and cross-polarisation when needed.
  • What is the typical delivery time? Normally 2-5 working days. Rush jobs according to capacity. Extra time for very large formats or extensive finishing work.
  • How do I receive the files? Secure download link. Delivered as raw file and web file, print file by scan2print
  • How do I deliver and collect the original? Delivery in Oslo by appointment or by post. Delivery/collection can be arranged. We pack securely for returns and can send by post.

We offer professional dephotography and rephotography of artworks - for anyone who wants an accurate digital reproduction of original paintings, drawings, graphics and mixed media.
With a professional Fuji GFX 50R (100 MP as an additional service), calibrated lighting setup and colour control with X-Rite colour cards, we ensure maximum colour fidelity, sharpness and detail reproduction.

Our method produces a digital result that is suitable for printing, archiving or online publishing. We handle formats up to 200 × 200 cm and delivers high-resolution files on request (TIFF, JPEG, 16-bit, etc.).
Typical delivery time is 3-5 working days.

Urgent assignments / delivery within 48 hours it costs +25 % of base prices.

AI-based technologies create new opportunities for upscaling low-resolution files. Something that was previously impossible to print on paper can now be printed in high quality. PIGS uses professional AI tools to create high quality images.
