Most matte and FineArt papers are made from cottoneither pure or as a mixture with e.g. wooden fiber. Cotton or rag paper is the paper with the highest color saturation and deepest dark tones and blacks.
Eco-friendly paper is nothing new as bamboo or hemp fibers have been used for hundreds of years to produce paper. What is perhaps new is that these fibers are now more widely used for FineArt and photoprinting and are becoming increasingly popular among photographers and artists, not only as a social contribution but also for the excellent quality of the paper.
