Classic photo prints are often printed on glossy paper in different degrees/types of gloss such as satin, baryta, glossy, luster or pearl. What all these have in common is that they render the motifs in a very saturated and contrasting way. In addition, the gloss can create various reflections.
Matt paper on the other hand, have a softer and perhaps more natural color expression. Unlike glossy papers, these papers have no reflections but have different textures on the surface, from very smooth to very textured.
