Prints on paper with texture usually have a matte finish and come in different styles. The texture can be soft like waves in an ocean, or very rough and sharp like sandpaper. You can call it digital watercolor paper. Here you create real art! Paper of this category adds the most character to the motifs. With the right choice, you can change the entire expression and create something truly special.
Such textures on the surface can "hide" blurring in the motif, which means that in some cases you can print the motifs larger than would normally be recommended. If you have a focus on detail and sharpness, matte paper with a smooth surface is best suited.
A paper with a textured surface also has a textured backing. When mounted on a board, this can create less adhesion of the sheet to the board, which means that it can come loose over a shorter period of time than with smooth paper.
